A malware code allegedly used by the Russian hackers has been found by an electrical company in the US state of Vermont. The company named as The Burlington Electric Department says that they found the code on one of its company laptops. The company also said that it has already taken immediate action to isolate the computer which was not connected to the electrical grid. The Burlington Company said it was "working with federal officials to trace the malware and prevent any other attempts to infiltrate utility systems”. The company has vowed to fully support the investigations.

The same day, the US expelled 35 Russian diplomats over alleged Russian interference in November's election.

The next day, US President-elect Donald Trump applauded Russian President Vladimir Putin for his decision not to expel American diplomats.

Moscow has denied the involvement in the hacking of the Democratic Party and Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign.
