I phone 8, I phone 7, I phone 7plus Will Be Launched In September: Ming-Chi KuaTags : iPhone
Concerns over the iPhone 8 being delayed are unfounded, according to KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The rumours over the delays were because of a shortage of OLED displays in the market, which the the iPhone 8 is purported to use. Kuo said that the iPhone 7s, the iPhone 7s Plus, and the iPhone 8 will all be launched in September. There will be limited stocks of the iPhone 8 at launch, although production is expected to ramp up later in the year.
According to a report in Apple Insider, the production of the iPhone 8 will reach about 50 million units this year, with 38 million iPhone 7s units, and 20 million iPhone 7s Plus units. All the three iPhones released this year will come in three colours, and support fast charging. However, users may have to separately purchase a lighting to USB-C adapter for supporting this functionality, the same as the buyers of the iPad Pro.
Kuo is one of the most reliable analyst when it comes to Apple products. In a note to investors, Kuo had previously indicated that all three iPhone models will also ship with support for wireless charging.
A protective graphite layer will be added under the 3D touch sensor, as the phone is likely to heat up because of the wireless charging. This addition is expected to inflate the cost of the devices. Kuo had also noted that the iPhone 8 will use facial recognition to authenticate access and give TouchID a miss, which will improve the quality of the front camera.
According to a previous report by Kuo, the iPhone 7s and the iPhone 7s Plus will have 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch LED displays, while the iPhone 8 will have a 5.8-inch screen with an OLED display. The usable area will be 5.2-inches, making it the phone with the highest screen to body ratio. The iPhone 8 will be the anniversary edition phone, and the most expensive iPhone yet.
The iPhone 8 will have 3 GB of RAM because of the dual cameras, while the iPhone 7s and the iPhone 7s Plus will have 2 GB of RAM each. All three devices will be available in 64 GB and 256 GB variations. Initially Kuo had indicated that the lightning port will have an integrated USB-C power delivery IC, but now suggest that there will be an optional adapter instead.
